Remember the first time you saw her,

     How you hoped you’d catch her eye?

Remember how your heart would race

     At the mere thought of her walking by?

Remember sitting in class with thoughts

     Of her filling your head?

Remember being called on by the teacher?

     You didn’t hear a word he said.

Remember standing in front of the mirror

     Rehearsing all the things you’d say?

Remember not being able to find the words

      When she finally came your way?

Remember how your friends laughed at you?

     They said you had no game.

     The time she spoke your name?

     “This cannot be real”?

Remember finally getting up the nerve

     To tell her how you feel?

Remember standing there awkwardly

     Waiting to see what she would do?

Remember feeling as if your heart stopped beating

     When she said she liked you too?

Remember chasing everyone off the phone

     Hoping she would call?

     Riding the bus to the mall?
